Holden Marks is establishing new traditions to celebrate the memorable moments of our lives. From new love to weddings, the birth or adoption of a child to graduations, these are the times that we will always remember and dates that we should never forget.

Holden Marks was started by C. D. Mattison after identifying that there are no common rituals for non-traditional ceremonies. "The celebration of love is universal. When Vermont passed Marriage Equality, I realized that the time was right to introduce a real sense of shared ceremony, shared tradition around weddings. The Holden Marks Knot is a symbol that all couples can build a strong foundation on: A love that knows no beginning, no end. Holden Marks wedding coins are the perfect gift for couples beginning new lives together. Engraved with their wedding date, Holden Marks "set in stone" the couples' vows and may be gifted to family and friends committing them as well to the success of the marriage.

Holden Marks Wedding Coins and Celebration Stones

Along with the Holden Marks Knot, other Celebration Stones were developed to honor the people in our lives. The Family Tree Wedding Coin was designed for "blended family" wedding ceremonies, celebrating the birth of a child and adoption ceremonies joining parents and their children and allowing for a shared symbol that each member of the family will be able to carry with them. The Kente Wedding Coin was designed based on traditional African Kente Wedding Cloth to commemorate a wedding wish of unity, elegance and honor. The final piece in the initial offering is the Holden Marks Eternal Circle formed of three separate, yet joined swirling pieces symbolizing Holden Marks' founding premise to "Love. Honor. Cherish."

Each Holden Marks Wedding Coin and Celebration Coin, handcrafted in Middlebury, Vermont by Danforth Pewter with a provenance reaching back to 1755, is engraveable allowing for that "special date" to be set in stone. According to Mattison, "The goal of Holden Marks is to celebrate the days we'll always remember. By insuring that each Holden Marks stone is engraveable, we also make sure that it's a date you'll never forget." The Holden Marks stones are sized to fit easily into the "coin pocket" of a pair of jeans; that little slot above the right-hand pocket on most jeans that typically remains empty. "Now every man, and every woman, can say to their loved one, 'I'll never forget our anniversary,' because they'll be able to carry their Holden Marks reminder with them wherever they go."

"We'll be looking to our customers to let us know what the next Holden Marks stone should be," Mattison stated. "As we move forward, we'll be learning from our customers as to how Holden Marks fits into their traditions and which moments in their lives they would like us to help them celebrate." Holden Mark plans to make the Knot available in Sterling Silver and Gold to commemorate 25th Silver Wedding Anniversaries and 50th Golden Wedding Anniversaries.
